This is a custom piece of Den's Teaware. Entirely handmade, the color of this kyusu is whitish bronze color AKA hakudo. Hakudo is a traditional Japanese color. With its cylindrical structure, it stands firm and balanced and is easy to clean. It also comes with a sasame filter that some tea purists prefer over metal. This filter is built directly into the kyusu, and is wide enough and has enough holes to filter very coarse teas such as fukamushi sencha.

We also requested that Fujita-san stamp our Den-chan into the underside of the lid, making this pot another piece of custom teaware that we can add to our collection. The kyusu is such a fundamental piece of teaware, we are glad to offer this pot to you all.

Dimensions: 180 ml (6 oz)/6" X 6" X 4"

Producer:

This kyusu was produced by Fujita Tokuta, a renowned contemporary potter who has been practicing his craft in Tokoname at least since 1994. In 1997, he began apprenticing under Toshio Araki and, since then, has won awards and exhibited at the Nitten Exhibition, Japan Ceramic Exhibition, and Japan Contemporary Industrial Art Exhibition. Tokoname is one of the Six Old Kilns of Japan and has been a pottery center since the 12th century. It is especially famous for its unglazed pottery.
