The bowl is covered with an iron glaze called tenmoku-glaze and only the edge is covered with white glaze, making it look like a Shira-nami (white wave).

Mino. Mino-yaki has been made in Gifu Prefecture since the 15th century. Now, it is the biggest pottery production kiln in Japan. The famous Shino and Oribe styles are a part of Mino-yaki.
