A yuzamashi is a tool used to bring hot water to the proper temperature to brew various types of tea. The color of this yuzamashi is what is called, "shuiro". Shuiro has a slightly yellowish tinge and has been used in palaces, shrines, and temples since ancient times. It symbolizes longevity and protection against evil. Although this Yuzamashi looks massive, it is actually light and easy to hold due to the indentations on its sides.
