A yuzamashi is a tool used to bring hot water to the proper temperature to brew various types of tea. This Yuzamashi is colored Shuiro. It has a slightly yellowish tinge and has been used in palaces, shrines, and temples since ancient times as a symbol of longevity and protection against evil. Although this Yuzamashi looks massive, it is actually light and easy to hold due to the indentations on both sides.
