EGCG: Tea's Powerful Antioxidant
What is EGCG? It is a compound found in green tea that is known as an antioxidant and is known for its potential health benefits. It's a type of polyphenol, and research suggests it may play a role in preventing certain diseases and promoting overall well-being. You can read more about EGCG is a recent article we wrote on our blog.
EGCG is present in all types of tea (Camellia sinensis) and, if you were looking to consume a lot of it, matcha is one of the highest natural sources of EGCG. When consuming matcha, you consume the leaves themselves, meaning you consume all the EGCG that the leaves have to offer. Another great source for EGCG is fukamushi sencha. When you sip on fukamushi sencha, you are also consuming leaf particulates, meaning you are consuming more EGCG.
We hope everyone enjoys a nice cup of tea and a healthy dose of EGCG!
