Japan Black Tea

We hoped you enjoyed the sample of Wakoucha Mariko included in your February order. Wa-koucha means Japan black tea. Den’s Tea is proud to carry this rare tea because the production of black tea is less than 1% of the entire tea production in Japan.

Black tea in Japan has over a 100 year history but, as you can assume from the production level, there are few producers. We are fortunate to have a direct source from one of the legendary black tea producers, Niroku Muramatsu in the Mariko area of Shizuoka. Our Wakoucha Mariko has a unique calm flavor, mild bodied and smooth finish. You can enjoy it hot or iced, but we recommend a straight cup like our Japanese green teas.
